Our History

Founded in 1960, Lacetex was founded by Mr. Nicolas Bassila.  Currently it is run by the second and third generation of the Bassila family.

We are largest producer in Central America and the Caribean of woven fabrics made out of 100% Acetate and 100% Polyester as well as warp knitted fabrics in 100% Polyester.

Within our Acetate and Polyester line, we can offer fabrics such as taffetas, twills, satins, jacquards, and shears of different construction and weight. We also produce combinations with other natural and synthetic fibers.

Within our warp knitted line, we can offer curtains, in various designs including jacquard, as well as lace bands and all over laces made out of 100% polyester and Nylon Lycra.

We have our own dyeing and finishing departments, where we can offer to match any color and/or finish that you might need on our fabrics, as well as any fabric that you are currently marketing.

We also offer the possibility of producing any special fabric you might need as long as it is within our capabilities.  For this kind of work we require a sample of the fabric so that we can research and see the possibilities of producing it with the characteristics requested.

Lacetex has a production line that averages about 4 million yards of fabric a year.  Its manufacturing operation is based in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Central America.  Its products are distributed in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, the Caribbean and Mexico as well as the United States of America.

We expect the company’s strong profitable growth will be sustained through continued emphasis on new investments to increase production and create new designs to keep up with the changes of the fashion market and to better serve our clients.  This will enable us to reach new and stronger markets around the world.
